Home Defense?

 A friend of mine recently asked me for some tips on how to keep out unwanted.....guests for lack of a better word. I figured since I was already putting together some info for her, I'd share it with all of you.

    The first tip I gave her is to place some crystals around her home. More specifically, crystals such as Amethyst, Aquamarine, Malachite, Lapis Lazuli, and large pieces of Salt are great for creating a protective warding around the home. I place them in windowsills and along doorways to block the major portals into one's home. Obsidian and Petrified Wood are especially good for blocking out negative energies that you may accidentally bring in with you. 

    Certain plants are very good for protecting the home as well. I've known green witches who like to grow Lavender along the perimeter of their properties and tie them together with a circle of salt to create a barrier encompassing all of their land. Others like to plant Peony in their flower beds to protect the physical structures from storm damages. It is also a good idea to hang aloe plants around the portals into the home. This was a common practice in many ancient cultures as it was believed that the plants have the power to ward off evil influences.

    The most important bit of advise I give to new witches or to cleanse your home regularly. I personally prefer smudging with safe and palo santo wood at least once a month. Keep your space clear of negative energy and you will be less succeptable to dark influences. I hope that some of you find these tips helpful!
